These pipes have a tendency to fill with rust and eventually rust out completely and burst. If you find your house has these old pipes installed it is a good idea that you have them replaced with new plastic piping even if they haven’t started to leak yet. It is only a matter of time before they rust out and burst. It is much better to get to these pipes before you have a water leak as when a leak occurs it usually floods under your house and if left undetected it could affect the foundations of your home and lead to serious structure problems down the track. Also having galvanized water pipes in your house will really affect the water quality and pressure in your home.
