Evaporative coolers work by drawing in air from outside, this warm air passes through water filled pads. The cool water in the pads removes heat from the air and a large fan blows the cooler air through your home. As air is being pushed into the building it needs to escape to avoid increasing the air pressure in the home. This is achieved by simply opening a door or window to let the air escape. This creates a flow of air through the home like a nice cooling breeze.
